Sculling Lessons & Clinics

MHRA offers a range of learning and training opportunities for the novice to advanced sculler. This includes a sculling clinic for beginners and intermediate scullers, weekly advanced lessons, and private lessons.

For beginning and intermediate scullers: Our popular sculling clinic is led by Head Coach Bill Davies, a US Rowing Level II coach and competitive rower with over 40 years of sweep and sculling experience. Our sculling clinic is offered to those who can swim and have some prior sweep rowing experience.

2024 Sculling Clinic Schedule
Tuesday, June 18 – Thursday, June 27 (6 classes)

Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30 – 7:00 am
Saturdays and Sundays 6:15 – 8:00 am

ADVANCED LESSONS

NEW FOR 2024: Advanced drills and workouts for experienced scullers. The five sessions will be offered on the following dates: 
July 4, 11, 25 and August 1 and 8. 
Payment is due at the time of registration for MHRA members. Please pay with Venmo or pay by check prior to your first lesson date. Cost is $30 per lesson for MHRA members. Please calculate your payment based on the number of lessons you selected.

Cost is $35 per lesson for non-MHRA members and is subject to availability. Please submit the registration form only  and Coach Bill will contact you.  Do not submit payment until you have been contacted with availability.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Dates are available June through August and scheduled based on the student’s and coach’s availability. Price is $75 per person for a 1½ hour lesson. Complete this request form to schedule a lesson.

The club provides sculling boats to share. Private boat owners can rent private boat racks through the Hudson River Rowing Association.
