Sculling Programs

COACHED (SUPERVISED) SCULLING

The coached/supervised sculling program has 3 sessions per week allowing any sculler to row under the watchful eye of a coach.

MHRA members do not pay an additional fee for the “coached sculling” program. Members pre-register to use shared club single and double shells during specified time slots. Members who own their own boats also pre-register weekly for rowing time slots. There is no drop-in rowing offered; members must register their slot by 8:00 pm the night before they wish to row.

The program begins once the Hudson River water temperature is consistently above 50 degrees F. Typically, this is a 4-month program from mid-May to mid-September.  Monday, Wednesday, Friday 5:30-7:15am.

Competitive Master Scullers

You will find a supportive atmosphere for working out and improving technique with MHRA. On most early mornings during the rowing season, there are many enthusiastic MHRA scullers at the river, to row together, share technique tips and drills, or race one another back to the boathouse. Several of our members compete regularly in masters sculling events in singles and doubles. Sculling scrimmages are held periodically in the summer for local rowers. Scheduling and attending races are up to the individual sculler.
