MHRA SafeSport Policy

Mid Hudson Rowing Association (MHRA) is an adult rowing club that operates within a boathouse that also houses youth rowing programs and another adult rowing program. As an organizational member of USRowing, and for the good of our members and the athletes in our local rowing community, MHRA participates in SafeSport awareness and training. MHRA Board members and coaches are SafeSport trained and are dedicated to upholding a rowing environment free of bullying, hazing, harassment, and abuse, including emotional, physical, and sexual misconduct. MHRA Board members and coaches participate in the annual training as prescribed by USRowing and the Center for SafeSport.

MHRA SafeSport policies require that we report sexual abuse or misconduct to local authorities and to the Center for SafeSport. Additionally, MHRA invites members who experience bullying, hazing, harassment, or abuse to report the incident to a Board member verbally or in writing. The Board member will inform the MHRA President, who will call an Executive session of the Board to address the reported incident and plan next steps to protect the affected member.
